The name NEST Kitchen & Taphouse references both the community in which it is located and the uniqueness of the fare it offers. The descriptives in the name are simple enough, reflecting the venue’s scratch-made food and tremendous craft beer selection. The proper name, however, is a more figurative nod to the community in which NEST is located. 

 

At first glance, the particular moniker “NEST” is simply reflective of the Kiln Creek residential & business community logo, its iconic white egret so readily recognized by all in the surrounding area for nearly thirty years. The avian nature of the word NEST is an obvious reference to that logo. NEST the word, however, is also one that is both a noun and an active verb. It is at the same time a PLACE in which to be comfortable — as in at home in one’s own community — and the very ACTION of getting situated in whatever manner best suits one’s own desires. While some may want to have a comfortable meal in a traditional dining setting, others may prefer drinks at the bar or a light appetizer on the patio. Still, others may view the place as the perfect location for their rehearsal dinner or, better yet, their wedding reception. All at once the name NEST reflects, in a way, the diversity of the products it produces, the differing desires of its guests, and the very people of its community.
